Business Description
Jessie’s Sunshine Farm: A Sustainable Intercropping Agroforestry Initiative
Jessie’s Sunshine Farm represents a pioneering initiative in intercropping agroforestry, integrating agricultural production with tourism. This multifaceted farm will primarily focus on the cultivation of Robusta Coffee, specifically the FRT 11 and FRT 65 varieties, while also incorporating FR 07 and FR 23. The overarching goal is to establish a robust plantation of 10,000 coffee trees, with 5,000 already planted.
Coffee Production and Facilities
To enhance operational efficiency and market access, Jessie’s Sunshine Farm will construct a drying and packaging facility. This facility will facilitate sales to exporters and roasters, paving the way for future expansion into a roasting facility. With sufficient experience, the farm aims to sell roasted coffee online via platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, Temu, and Amazon, and explore auction opportunities.
Coconut Farming and Value Addition
In addition to coffee, Jessie’s Sunshine Farm will serve as a coconut mother farm for the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA). The farm has planted Catigan Dwarf and Tacunan Dwarf coconut varieties, alongside 200 hybrid varieties, with plans to introduce an additional 100 hybrids in the lower sections of the cliff. The target is to establish 450 dwarf Tacunan or Catigan trees.
Initial products will include coconut seedlings, copra, husk, shells, and young coconut BOKO juice. Future plans involve value-added production of coconut oil, charcoal, and organic fertilizer, necessitating the development of a comprehensive production facility, which will include a production building, warehouse, kiln, and packaging area.
Tourism and Recreational Facilities
Jessie’s Sunshine Farm is envisioned as a touristic destination, offering up to three private A-Frame Kobos for rental on the cliff, as well as group rental options behind the function hall for events. Plans for a resort-style accommodation featuring showers, air conditioning, and comfortable beds are also in consideration for future development.
The farm will feature a scenic flower garden overlooking the expansive green valley and the Kalatungan Mountain Range, complemented by a small café serving snacks and beverages. To enhance visitor experience, there will be designated areas for photo opportunities and internet access. An entrance fee model providing access to Starlink Internet is under consideration.
Furthermore, Jessie’s Sunshine Farm aims to introduce a Work Vacation program, offering guests the opportunity to work half a day on the coffee plantation, visit a tourist attraction weekly, and enjoy relaxation time by the pool.
In summary, Jessie’s Sunshine Farm stands as an innovative model of sustainable agroforestry, combining agricultural productivity with tourism to create a dynamic and enriching environment for both the community and visitors.
